About The Role Hippo is recruiting for a Senior Data Analyst to join our Hippo Herd. Our Data Analysts work in multi-disciplinary teams that build, support & maintain user‑centred digital solutions that offer real value and work for everyone. Hippo’s Data Analysts create data‑specific solutions to ensure we have the right information and data to make informed decisions. Stakeholder engagement is key and collaborating within your technical Hippo squad and alongside colleagues from other professions is fundamental. Please note, we are looking for candidates who are looking for growth at this level (senior), therefore the advertised salary band is the lower end of our full banding for this level of position, allowing for progression in the role. Your Role In a Nutshell Draw actionable insights from multiple, large sources of data and communicate these effectively, through reports, dashboards and presentations. Engage with client stakeholders to understand their business and organisational needs and translate these into clear requirements for your analysis. Identify opportunities for the use of advanced analytics techniques (e.g. marketing analytics, predictive modelling and machine learning) to provide additional value to clients. Use robust statistical techniques when appropriate and be able to communicate your methodology to a wide range of stakeholders. Be comfortable with exploring large, diverse data sets with an ability to work with both structured and unstructured data. Apply tools and techniques for data analysis and visualisation (including the use of business intelligence tools). Identify, collect and blend data from a range of systems and sources, including open source data for additional context. Understand various data platforms and pipelines at a conceptual level and be able to identify data quality issues that might impact your work. Apply appropriate data cleaning and management techniques, and be able to advise on future improvements for data. Be involved in the recruitment and onboarding of other analysts, and support other consultants in their professional development. Promote Hippo’s Herd internally and externally (for example through writing blogs and case studies, and sharing knowledge through workshops and other speaking opportunities). Skills and Experience That You Need A proven track record as a data analyst with experience of exploring, summarising and presenting data in the most appropriate format for users. Skilled in data cleansing, analysis, modelling and visualisation, with experience using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and Looker Studio. Experience with web analytics platforms such as Adobe and Google Analytics. Experience of working with large, complex data warehouses and/or data lakes. Familiarity with cloud‑based analytics platforms such as AWS, Azure, Snowflake, Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery), Spark and Splunk. Proficiency in SQL and experience of using one or more of the following languages: R, Python, Scala and Julia, including relevant frameworks/libraries. Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to interpret and advise upon client requirements. Excellent collaboration skills and willingness to be a data advocate across Hippo, especially within the wider engineering & data team. For the Senior role, mentoring and coaching skills with a passion for up‑skilling junior analysts is essential. Public sector or consultancy experience would be highly desirable. A desire to continuously develop your own skills and adapt to changing client needs and technologies.
