Senior EC&I EngineerLocation: Milton Park, OxfordshireEmployment Type: PermanentMain Purpose of Job:Define and distribute the scope of work to ensure all tasks are executed safely, on time, and with appropriate quality. Deliver all design and engineering work to meet the requirements of Design Reviews and HAZOPs within project procedures. Supervise less experienced engineers, manage engineering resources, and conduct interviews.Position in Organisation:Report to Principal Engineers; ultimate line management with the Chief Engineer within your disciplineReport to Principal Engineer, Team Leader, or Department ManagerSupervise a design or project team of up to 5 engineers, possibly supplemented by staff from other departmentsAllocate work and manage quality, progress, and costs within the projectManage project subcontractsInteract regularly with clients and other engineering discipline managersCommunicate effectively within the project team regarding your responsibilitiesKey Accountabilities:Design, specification, procurement, supply/manufacture liaison, installation, acceptance testing, commissioning, and operator training in nuclear engineering projectsCoordinate with multidisciplinary teamsProvide technical consultancyManage projects including quality, progress, and cost control, along with documentationSupport sales and customer relationsManage contractors and subcontractors; staff developmentPromote safety by developing and reinforcing safety culture, ensuring compliance with safety regulations (e.g., CDM, CE marking), and applying safety systemsExperience and Attributes:Essential:Degree in a relevant technical/engineering discipline or demonstrable experienceFull UK driver’s licenseWorking towards Chartered Engineer status (where applicable)Minimum 5 years of experience in the nuclear industryProven competence in design/delivery within a project environmentUnderstanding of design requirements supporting nuclear safety casesSignificant experience in two or more of the following EC&I areas:Mechanical handling (including remote in-cell handling)Process instrumentationFunctional safety (BS EN 61508/BS EN 61511)Machinery safety (BS EN 60204 and BS EN 13849)LV distribution systems (experience with Trimble Pro-design)Managing sub-contractsKnowledge of safety regulations including CDMChecking design documentation, drawings, and calculationsLeading technical teams in project deliveryOrganizational and collaboration skillsAbility to work under tight deadlinesQuality and service orientationHigh commercial awarenessDesirable:Chartered Engineer or nearing chartership; membership in institutions like IET preferredExperience with EC&I design integration with control systems (PLC/SCADA)Design substantiation for safety cases, including assessment of new and existing systemsExperience in the Defence sector advantageousBid preparation experienceWhy us?As a subsidiary of VINCI Construction and part of the VINCI Group, NUVIA operates worldwide on highly regulated and sensitive industrial sites.
