Job Purpose:
The Forklift/Flexi Day Driver is responsible for operating a forklift to transport goods safely and efficiently within the warehouse and loading/unloading areas. The role also involves driving a flexible vehicle (flexi) during day shifts to ensure smooth logistics operations, ensuring that all tasks are performed following safety guidelines and operational procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Safely operate a forklift (counterbalance, reach truck, or other equipment as required) to move, stack, load, and unload goods.
  2. Perform daily checks and maintenance on forklift equipment to ensure it is in safe working order.
  3. Safely transport goods from the warehouse to designated locations.
  4. Follow all safety procedures while operating forklifts and flexi vehicles.
  5. Load and unload deliveries to/from vehicles ensuring proper handling and securing of materials.
  6. Maintain accurate records of inventory movements using handheld devices or manual logs.
  7. Assist in inventory control, including stock taking and shelf organization.
  8. Drive a flexi vehicle during day shifts as required for inter-site transportation or delivery of goods.
  9. Collaborate with the warehouse team to ensure smooth operations and meet delivery deadlines.
  10. Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  11. Assist with any general warehouse duties as needed, such as sorting, packing, or preparing materials for shipment.
  12. Keep work areas clean and organised.

Qualifications:

  1. Valid forklift driver license (counterbalance, reach truck, or other relevant certifications as required).
  2. Valid driving license for flexi vehicle operation.
  3. Previous experience driving a forklift and flexi vehicle in a warehouse or logistics environment.
  4. Experience with warehouse management systems or inventory management is a plus.
  5. Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures when handling materials and operating equipment.
  6. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  7. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Skills:

  1. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in inventory management.
  2. Good physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy goods.
  3. Ability to follow instructions and safety regulations.
  4. Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve operational issues.
  5. Flexibility in working hours, as required by the operational needs of the business.

Working Conditions:

  1. Work is conducted primarily in a warehouse environment.
  2. The role may require standing, walking, bending, lifting, and operating machinery for extended periods.
  3. Day shifts, with occasional overtime as required.
  4. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) will be provided and must be worn at all times.
  5. Exposure to varying temperatures depending on warehouse conditions.
