About the Team The Strategy, Insights & Performance department is a force multiplier. Our Hub focuses on data engineering, reporting and analytics, turning insights into business success. We partner with senior leaders, analysts and data governance teams. About the Role As a Lead Data Engineer, you will manage pipelines that transform, collate and organise data into a data model that delivers value. You will maintain and update the data model for your Hub and collaborate with other Lead Engineers to avoid duplication. Success requires curiosity, accountability, enthusiasm, strong communication and task‑management skills. Key Responsibilities Manage, coach and develop data engineering team within the Hub. Work with Delivery Manager on backlog management and workload allocation. Engage stakeholders to understand requirements and shape design and modelling. Carry out design and propose solutions. Support workshops and discovery sessions where required. Break down work for junior data engineers, removing blockers. Provide effort estimation to Delivery Manager. Manage code branching and deployment pipelines. Deliver code and make deployments, ensuring development standards. Ensure quality and standards of work by data engineers. Support incident investigation and problem solving for Operations. Consult SMEs for new tech or techniques. Contribute to knowledge base through documentation. Lead by example, mentor, and promote continuous improvement. Maintain working knowledge of business products, systems and key processes. Must Have Collaborate with stakeholders to define, document and analyze reporting and analytical requirements. Design and document flexible and practical data warehouse models to recommended industry standards. Design robust, secure data pipeline architectures to populate data lake and SQL databases in the cloud. Experience in Agile delivery and DevOps ways of working. Line‑manage a small team of Senior Data Engineers and Data Engineers. Mentor and guide the wider development team to transition to cloud data architectures. Act as SME for the Enterprise Data Warehouse and its underlying technologies. Conscientious approach to documenting solutions with a can‑do attitude.
