Project Engineer

Collaborative working agreements are a proven strategy for delivering large, complex railway projects, and through its strong relationships with other major contractors, VolkerRail Major Projects has helped to deliver several of the biggest rail projects over the last decade. The SID is a fully integrated team that will bring together the strengths, capabilities, and knowledge of the partners and Network Rail. It will own the renewals work bank, manage it at portfolio level and drive a transition to a production management ethos. The SID is commercially aligned and jointly incentivised creating a 'share in success' environment. Business partners within the alliance will generate profit through performance against the Final Determination. The four partners, VolkerFitzpatrick, Octavius, Atkins, and VolkerRail are aligned to the core asset disciplines with the fifth partner, Network Rail Minor Works, being multi‑disciplinary for low complexity, low value works. An opportunity has arisen for a Project Engineer to join Major Projects initially working on the Southern Integrated Delivery project. You will be responsible for:ResponsibilitiesOn site control of all technical aspects of track construction to relevant engineering designs, standards and tolerances using a variety of surveying equipment and techniquesCollection and Compilation of construction records to provide required quality assurance to clientsProduction and/or review of site engineering and safety documentation including risk assessments, method statements and task briefs.Assisting the senior engineer and project manager in developing the plan for the engineering resource required to deliver the project plan and provide engineering review of the method statements and risk assessments proposed for the work.Supporting the project bid/tendering process as required.Providing site support to the project team throughout the works.You will be self‑motivated with a pro‑active approach and have experience of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.RequirementsTo be considered for this role you must have the following experience and skill set:Demonstrable experience working within Track Engineering.Experienced user of 3D surveying instruments in a construction environmentA degree in Engineering or related discipline with an HNC/HND as a minimum.Confident communication skills, both in writing and in internal and external correspondence.Ability to operate effectively in the site environment.Competent user of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.Experience at team working/collaborating.A full UK Driving licenceVolkerRail is under the umbrella of VolkerWessels UK which is a multidisciplinary contractor that delivers innovative engineering solutions across the civil engineering and construction sectors including rail, highways, airport, marine, energy, water, and environmental infrastructure.
