Cyber Engineer

Location Manchester, Cheltenham or London Your Purpose in This Role You’ll be part of the Cyber & Infrastructure (C&I) Security Engineering practice. Your mission: deliver targeted, high‑impact security improvements for Cisco clients. You’ll work side‑by‑side with penetration testers, red teamers, incident responders, and auditors to drive meaningful change. As a Security Engineer, you’ll act as the trusted expert, shaping priorities, advising clients and their service providers, and making hands‑on improvements where needed. You won’t just work with data; you’ll interpret it, augment it, and transform it into action. Whether it’s red‑team findings, pen tests, incident reports, audits, etc., you’ll pull it all together into a clear plan of attack. You’ll also need the ability to spot root causes, not just symptoms, tackling governance and process gaps as well as tech fixes, while being empathetic to business‑as‑usual operations and realistic timelines. Day to day you will Be the technical cyber authority for your clients Drive measurable improvements to their cyber posture during each engagement Analyse risk and cyber information (incident reports, pen tests, red‑team findings, audits) and build on that with your own reviews Shape project plans and costings with your technical input, then help prioritise and plan as things evolve Write sharp, clear, and accurate technical documentation Collaborate with project managers using Agile ways of working to manage risk, resources, and delivery Work directly with clients, NCC colleagues, and third parties to deliver security improvements both hands‑on and advisory Validate that what’s been delivered actually reduces risk as intended Bring in the right NCC expertise where needed and make sure all relevant angles are covered Champion the Security Engineering practice and help connect clients to wider NCC services when needed. What You Bring Strong understanding of cyber security principles and the attack‑chain lifecycle, and good understanding of the mind of the offender Familiarity with frameworks like NIST, CIS, or MITRE Ability to digest security reports and recommend smart, actionable mitigations Broad IT knowledge across networks, infrastructure, security, and compliance Solid grasp of modern Windows environments, Active Directory, Entra ID, and Microsoft 365 Awareness of Azure, AWS, GCP A collaborative mindset Clear, confident written communication It Would Be Great If You Also Have Certifications or expertise in IT security management or compliance. Experience working in Agile teams or service‑led organisations. Hands‑on experience in some of the following: Windows, Active Directory, Microsoft 365 Azure, AWS, GCP DevOps, CI/CD, infrastructure as code Network or infrastructure engineering IT compliance or security management Blue‑team, network defence, monitoring engineering Certifications like CISSP, CISM, CEH, or Agile qualifications. Familiarity with standards such as PCI‑DSS, ISO 27001, or SOC. Experience building solution architectures and designs. You’ll thrive here if you Prioritise the client.
