Senior Bid Manager

Job OverviewReporting to the Head of Bids, the Senior Bid Manager will be responsible for the management, mentoring and coaching of Bid Managers within the team, working to drive continuous improvement in bid quality. This will involve both day‑to‑day line management of Bid Managers and the oversight and review of bids that are produced by the Bid Team. They will also own and co‑ordinate the bid process from expression of interest and bid qualification through to bid outcome for any major bid processes, as required.Main DutiesProvide team leadership and oversight for Bid Managers within the Business Services Bid TeamEnsure all bid team members are clear on their roles, responsibilities, and deliverables. Monitor individuals' progress and performance and intervene/manage as necessary to maintain the planned progress of the bidUnderstanding of workload within bid team, including clear and current knowledge of the key details of each in‑flight opportunitySupport the Head of Bids in continuing to interrogate and improve bid practices across Mitie to build further upon the quality of bids produced by the bid teamProvide ongoing coaching and mentoring to support bid team members to deliver the highest possible quality of bidsProvide regular performance feedback and review to bid team members, including conducting MiReview processesLead the bid team in the implementation of all necessary bid procedures and processes in line with Mitie methodology and ensure they follow appropriate governanceWork closely and collaboratively with all bid stakeholders, and primarily the Solutions Director and wider sales team, to ensure that each bid produced by the team is a compelling high‑quality submission capable of winningConduct detailed quality reviews to make sure bids are appropriately compelling and commercially attractive and capable of winningLead the team in analysing the bid documents and requirements to ensure both compliance and responsiveness to the client's issues and needs throughout the bidding processWork alongside other senior bid team colleagues in effective management of team resources and capacityProactively bid manage major or strategic bid opportunities identified by the division, including end‑to‑end process management and production of compelling bid responsesWhat we are looking forAbility to prioritise, demonstrating excellent organisational and time management skillsStrong written English language skillsExcellent attention to detailStrong interpersonal skills, ability to manage and motivate team members that do and do not report to them directlyHave previous experience of line management and leading a teamDemonstrate an ability to manage multiple projects and working to deadlinesHave a can‑do attitude, able to work with limited supervision under pressure and to tight deadlinesAbility to communicate and influence stakeholders up to senior levelStrong presentation skills with ability to adapt styles to the audience and outcomesProficient MS Office skills including advance MS Word skillsMinimum 3 years' experience in bid managementCertified to APMP Foundation level (desirable)BenefitsOur market‑leading offering provides you with benefits that suit your lifestyle.
