OverviewTooling / CAD Engineer – 6 months fixed term contractWho are we:Auxitrol Weston Operating Unit (OU) consists of 3 manufacturing plants, Auxitrol SAS (France), Weston Aerospace Ltd (UK), Auxitrol Weston (Mexico), with 3 R&D departments in France, UK and Norwich Aero Products Inc (US) along with 3 repair capabilities in France, UK & Singapore.Weston Aerospace Ltd has approximately 175 employees at Farnborough whose responsibilities are to design and manufacture temperature, speed and pressure sensors for gas turbine and airframe applications. We have another smaller manufacturing site dedicated to analogue indicators, based in Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire with 16 employees.Role & Job Summary:Location: FarnboroughRole Type: Fixed Term Contract (6 months)Driving / Championing the Core Value Drivers through Team Performance (3 P’s) – Value Based Pricing – Profitable New Business – ProductivityRole and ResponsibilitiesPrimary ResponsibilitiesSupport an NPI project as an experienced Tool Designer, working as part of an integrated project team, closely with the Product Design & Manufacturing Engineers.Design and develop a suite of tools to enable the assembly and manufacture of a range of sensor products.Advise on tooling queries, support the re-work of existing tools, and collaborate with sub-contracted manufacturing companies and material suppliers.Demonstrate extensive experience in taking a design from concept through to a proven part.Liaise with Engineering and other Departments to produce cost estimates for new product / tooling designs.In addition, all employees of Advanced Input are expected to:Promote teamwork and cooperative effortHelp train and give guidance to employeesMaintain a clean, safe, and unobstructed work areaProvide customers with the highest quality of products and servicesUnderstand and apply appropriate quality improvement processesReport to work as scheduledQualifications/Skills/ExperienceEssentialMinimum 5 years proven experience in a similar role that encompasses the above responsibilitiesCAD / SolidWorks experience, able to create 3D models and detailed drawingsKnowledge of BS8888, G&T. engineering drawing layoutKnowledge of COTS items commonly used in jigs & fixturesKnowledge of manufacturing methods — conventional machining, EDM, fabrication, different welding methods, additive manufacturingKnowledge of engineering materials and treatments (metals, plastics, ceramics & other high temperature materials, heat treatments, surface finishing)Demonstrated background of product and process improvementMechanical / Electronic knowledgeStrong communication skills (oral and written)Understanding of AS9100Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) intermediate levelUnderstanding of PPAP & APQPSelf-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision, managing multiple streams of workAbility to read and interpret technical /engineering drawings and BOMsMust have excellent verbal communication skillsAdditive manufacturing experience (FDM, DLP)DesirableFE analysisCNC/CAM capability (HAAS programming / SolidCAM)Experience of using following equipment: vertical milling machine, lathe, pedestal grinder, precision hand tools, and precision measuring devicesCompetenciesCustomer Focus: knows how and understand the needs of internal and external customers.
