Social Media Officer Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking a creative and strategic Social Media Officer to join our Marketing and External Relations team. This is an exciting opportunity to shape and deliver our social media presence, helping us attract prospective students and strengthen our reputation among diverse audiences. Salary range: £34,827 – £38,981 per year Contract type: Permanent, open‑ended contract Mode: Full time (35 hours per week, one day in office) Grade: 5 on the College's London Pay Scale, including a consolidated London Weighting Allowance Business Unit: External Relations Closing date for applicants: 07-Dec-2025Reference No: 2293 Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement a social media plan that supports student recruitment and brand building. Create compelling content – video, images, infographics – tailored to different platforms and audiences. Monitor and respond to comments and queries across channels, ensuring timely and accurate engagement. Analyse performance data and produce monthly reports to inform strategy. Recruit, manage and provide training to student ambassadors, offering creative direction. Stay ahead of social media trends and apply insights to enhance engagement. Qualifications and Skills: Extensive experience managing social media for a large organisation. Strong creative skills in video production, photography and design, using tools such as Canva, CapCut and Adobe. Excellent knowledge of social media platforms, trends and analytics tools. Ability to develop and implement social media strategies that drive engagement and deliver measurable results. Knowledge of the higher education sector and student recruitment cycles is desirable.
