Linux Engineer - £60,000 - Bristol (On-site, 5 days / week) Join an international leader in technology services as a Unix / Linux Support Engineer, keeping critical systems running smoothly for a major defence programme. You'll be hands‑on with Solaris (10 & 11, ideally 8 & 9 too) and Linux (Red Hat) environments, solving complex technical problems and making a real operational impact. What you'll do Monitor, maintain, and support Unix / Linux systems in production & dev environments Resolve incidents, service requests, and system alerts in line with SLAs Perform patching, updates, and routine system checks to optimise performance & security Troubleshoot software, hardware, and connectivity issues for end‑users Manage user accounts, permissions, file systems, and security best practices Write scripts (Bash / Python) to automate processes and improve efficiency Create and maintain technical documentation Provide on‑call support on a rota What you'll bring Proven Unix / Linux support & admin experience Solaris (10 & 11, ideally 8 & 9 too) + Linux Red Hat Scripting skills in Bash or Python Experience with Ansible, Docker / Mirantis / Podman, and VMware tools (VROPS a bonus) Strong troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and customer service skills #J-18808-Ljbffr
