Sewerage Technical Advisor - 32397 Environment Agency – join our national Water Quality Regulatory Development team to design and implement new regulatory approaches, facilitating strategic change in sewerage regulation and storm and emergency overflow improvement programmes. Job Description We are looking for an urban drainage advisor with sewer hydraulic modelling experience. This is an exciting and busy time for the wastewater sector. You will join an experienced, supportive national team tasked with delivering regulatory guidance and auditing water quality investigations under the Storm Overflows Assessment Framework and Environment Act. Your role will also involve co‑developing training courses on Urban Pollution Management (UPM), responding to technical queries, coaching staff, and providing incident response or business continuity support where required. Key Responsibilities Lead the development of audit processes for water quality investigations under the Storm Overflows Assessment Framework. Co‑develop and deliver UPM training courses. Respond to technical queries and coach staff on sewerage and water quality investigations. Support incident response and business continuity during sewer incidents. Embed new approaches and processes across dispersed teams. Provide strategic planning contributions to improve water quality in the wastewater sector. Required Experience & Skills Relevant degree in civil engineering, geography, environmental science or equivalent, with demonstrated professional experience. Proven experience in sewer hydraulic modelling, river quality impact modelling for UPM studies and model audits. Knowledge of environmental planning and regulation of water and sewerage companies. Excellent organisational skills, ability to coach and develop others, and a track record of embedding new approaches. Strong strategic planning and decision‑making abilities, with evidence of significant positive impact on water quality.
