Associate Wastewater Process Engineer Join WSP to be part of a global team delivering landmark projects in water engineering. About the Role As an experienced Associate Waste Water Process Engineer, you will work within multidisciplinary project teams to design wastewater and water reuse solutions across the UK and internationally. You will contribute from feasibility through to detailed design, procurement and construction support. Key Responsibilities Produce process design deliverables – optioneering studies, process calculations, mass balances, flow diagrams, P&ID, sketches, basis of design reports, etc. Lead outline or detailed process engineering design. Attend site visits for data acquisition and meetings with operators. Provide technical input to the procurement process. Support Project Managers in technical discussions with clients. Engage with technology providers and vendors. Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, ENVID, SWIFT sessions. Guide and supervise junior staff. Collaborate with other disciplines to integrate process engineering into overall design. Contribute to proposals, work scopes, schedules and budgets. Liaise with clients to ensure their needs are met. Qualifications Degree (BEng/MEng) or MSc in Chemical, Environmental or related Engineering. Professional registration as CEng, or working towards chartership within 12 months. Skills & Experience Significant experience delivering process engineering design for infrastructure projects. Experience in the municipal water industry. Ability to work independently on design package deliverables (specs, reports, P&IDs, procurement docs). Experience with feasibility, concept design, FEED and detail design of wastewater treatment solutions (primary to advanced tertiary). Knowledge of circular economy, Zero Liquid Discharge and emerging tertiary treatments. Consultancy or engineering company background as a Process Engineer. Strong technical reporting and presentation skills. Excellent communication with colleagues, clients, and subcontractors. Experience leading multi‑disciplinary meetings and acting as technical representative. Willingness to travel to operational sites and construction locations.
