This document sets out the requirements of the role of Installation & Test Engineer (Fibre Telecoms). General Description: Fibre Installation and Test Engineer.The Installation and Test Engineer forms part of a team responsible for the successful implementation and delivery of an array of fibre telecoms systems and equipment for major clients including Network Rail Route Service and Capital Delivery, Network Rail High Speed, Transport for London, Merseytravel and other agencies such as Train Operators, Councils and Passenger Transport Executives; the test and installation engineer will be assigned to perform installation and test activities assigned by the Lead Installation and Test Engineer or PICOT.The ADComms Installation and Test Engineer with instruction from the Lead Installation and Test Engineer or PICOT will carry out implementation, and test activities for validation and final commissioning of the projects in the ADComms portfolio to achieve the company programme for project delivery of Telecoms equipment – both trackside and train borne – ensuring compliance with Telecoms testing and commissioning standards and procedures.Fibre Installation & Test Engineer ResponsibilitiesUnder instruction from the Lead Installation and Test Engineer or PICOT carry out implementation and principle testing, verification and validation process of the delegated project portfolio.Under instruction from the Lead Installation & Test Engineer act as in-house installation and testing resources and request external assistance as necessary.Assist with the implementation of testing strategies, testing and commissioning plans and Migration plans as required.In conjunction with the professional specialists, identify and spread consistent best practice in the application of installation, testing and commissioning techniques.Under guidance of the Lead Installation and test engineer or PICOT implement processes required to ensure a successful installation, testing & commissioning thereby ensuring telecoms systems and equipment are entered safely into service.Identify and promote non-compliance applications relating to installation, testing and commissioning for submission for acceptance.Assist with the review and closure of deferred test logs.Assist in investigations of incidents involving the areas of expertise where required.Provide input of installation, testing and commissioning activities to project close out reports and Health and safety file submissions.Sharing knowledge, best practice and innovation across our business, providing guidance, training and feedback with other related disciplines and skills, and supporting and providing mentorship to other members of staff allowing for continuous improvement.RequirementsExtensive OTDR & Insertion Loss testing experience.Must be able to understand and follow Network Rail standard testing practices/ follow parameters set out by the TIC.Extensive fault finding and remedial experience.Show understanding of the whole life cycle of a project.Ranging from installation, testing, remedials & commissioning.Supervision Experience (SSSTS/SMSTS).Able to lead and manage a team of engineers.Railway Experience.Ideally 5 years+.Experience working with single fibre & ribbon Fibre.Must demonstrate knowledge of common issues.Able to interpret SLDs and AFC pack drawings.Maintain accurate site diary test logs and submit fault forms to the tester in charge (TIC).Submit site reports daily.Fast Reporter 3 experience.City & Guilds Fibre Certification 3667 or 3668.PTS certification.COSS Certification.Full UK driving Licence. #J-18808-Ljbffr
