Role Overview Technology Sourcing Manager – Barclays (Location: Knutsford or Manchester, UK) Join Barclays as a Technology Sourcing Manager. You’ll take the lead in optimising Barclays’ third‑party technology spend, driving efficiency and value across key categories. You’ll define, develop, and implement sourcing strategies while collaborating closely with the business to deliver strategic sourcing initiatives and enhance buying channels. Responsibilities Profile spend in category area and develop understanding of business strategy, business requirements, cost levers and opportunities. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify sourcing needs, develop requests for proposal and ensure sourcing activities align to the bank’s needs and priorities. Plan and execute sourcing events including RFP/RFXs, negotiations to best meet business requirements for value, speed, compliance, risk. Monitor and guide controls and compliance requirements to be met through the category and sourcing cycle from request to contract, including regulatory engagement, controls, audits, data quality, etc. Develop, implement and operate policies and procedures for sourcing activities aligned to the policies, standards, relevant compliance and regulation. Identify and deliver change opportunities to improve effectiveness, control and efficiency of sourcing processes including buying channel optimisation for relevant categories of spend. Identify industry trends and development related to sourcing and category management by attending conferences, training and conducting market research. Accountabilities (Assistant Vice President expectations) Advise and influence decision making, contribute to policy development and take responsibility for operational effectiveness. Lead a team performing complex tasks using professional knowledge and skills to deliver on work that impacts the whole business function. If leading an individual contributor role, guide team members through structured assignments and identify the need for additional expertise. Consult on complex issues and provide advice to People Leaders. Identify ways to mitigate risk, develop new policies/procedures in support of control and governance agenda. Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls relative to the work performed. Collaborate with other areas to keep up to speed with business activity and strategy. Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources and solve problems creatively and effectively. Communicate complex information clearly; influence stakeholders to achieve outcomes. Qualifications & Skills Strong commercial acumen – ability to analyse market trends, identify cost‑saving opportunities and make data‑driven decisions to maximise value for Barclays. Expertise in supplier negotiations – skilled in building win‑win agreements, managing complex contracts and driving competitive outcomes with suppliers. Proven stakeholder management skills – adept at influencing and collaborating with senior leaders and cross‑functional teams. Financial analysis capability – competence in evaluating pricing models, assessing total cost of ownership, and supporting strategic decisions through robust financial insights. CIPS certification – professional accreditation that demonstrates advanced knowledge of procurement principles and best practices.
