Patient Services Representative (Phlebotomist) – PSR I Alternate/Related Job Titles Phlebotomist I Patient Services Technician Specimen Collection Technician Location: Salisbury, MD Onsite Flexibility: Onsite Contract Details Position Type: Contract Contract Duration: 4 months Start: As Soon As Possible Pay Rate: $17 – $21/hr Schedule: Monday–Friday Shift Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Lunch 11:15–12:00) Remote Eligible: No Job Number: 25-29122 Job Summary The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) represents the face of the organization by delivering high-quality phlebotomy and customer service to patients seeking routine or diagnostic testing. The PSR I is responsible for collecting blood specimens, preparing samples for laboratory testing, performing EKGs and point-of-care procedures, and upholding strict confidentiality and accuracy standards. This role supports a fast-paced Patient Service Center environment and requires professionalism, reliability, and strong patient interaction skills. Key Responsibilities Perform venipuncture and capillary specimen collection following established procedures. Ensure accurate specimen labeling, demographic verification, and required documentation. Deliver patient-focused service by creating a welcoming, professional, and safe environment. Perform forensic and clinical specimen processing with confidence and adherence to standards. Maintain required logs, documentation, and recordkeeping. Work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities. Provide exceptional customer service while communicating clearly with patients, peers, and supervisors. Flexibility to support staffing needs including weekends, holidays, on-call, or overtime as required. Uphold organizational policies, safety protocols, dress code, and confidentiality guidelines. Required Experience Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience required. One or more years of phlebotomy experience preferred. Customer service experience in retail or service environments preferred. Data entry/keyboard experience required. Required Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred. Phlebotomy certification preferred Required only in CA, NV, and WA — not required in MD. Required Skills Strong phlebotomy skills including pediatric and geriatric collections. Ability to perform error-free work in a fast-paced setting. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to adapt to staffing needs and scheduling requirements. Preferred Skills Compassionate patient interaction skills Solid understanding of specimen handling protocols Ability to handle multiple high-volume prioritiesStrong judgment and problem-solving within established procedures Additional Notes (from custom fields) This opening is a backfill for an employee going on medical leave; candidate training will occur before leave to ensure smooth transition.
