Job Summary To lead the management and delivery of the statutory functions of a local Healthwatch, which consist of obtaining the views of people about their needs and experience of local health and social care services. Local Healthwatch makes these views known to those involved in the commissioning and scrutiny of care services, produces reports, makes recommendations for improvement, promotes and supports the involvement of people in the monitoring, commissioning and provision of local health and social care services, provides information and advice to the public on accessing services, works with Healthwatch England, and informs national bodies such as the Care Quality Commission. Overall, the role involves ensuring services are managed to engage diverse user groups, identify and address inequalities, influence decision‑making by commissioners and deliverers, and act through research and evidence. Key Responsibilities Oversee local Healthwatch service delivery, create and manage a work plan, and marshal the team and resources efficiently. Lead and manage community-focused projects or programmes. Conduct all aspects of research—including scoping, desk research, fieldwork, analysis and report writing. Communicate clearly and confidently, producing concise reports and presenting in meetings or at events. Engage creatively with a wide variety of people, from residents to senior commissioners or providers, to influence improvements. Ensure that local people in the community are heard and health inequalities are addressed. Person Specification – Skills Excellent ICT skills, including Office 365 apps. Good verbal and written communication skills, delivering messages with clarity and confidence. Good interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders. Organisation and time‑management skills. Ability to work flexibly and adaptably. Experience using databases, CRM and Excel for data recording and reporting (desirable). DBS check required. Willingness to undertake training and staff development as required. Able to work occasionally out‑of‑hours. Person Specification – Qualifications Degree or equivalent in a related subject. Evidence of utilizing effective and creative methods and approaches to engage and involve diverse groups, including seldom heard or underrepresented groups.
