Overview To carry out arboricultural works across the borough, ensuring that work is always carried out effectively and safely. This will include working at height and ground-based operations. Responsibilities Safely climb trees regularly using a variety of climbing aids and systems, and be confident and capable of working at height. Use full safety and climbing equipment in an approved manner and in accordance with current safety guidelines and industry best practice. Demonstrate good health & safety practices, such as the completion of site‑specific risk assessments. Deploy, operate, and maintain vehicles, machinery, and equipment safely and effectively. Provide an effective response to scheduled and ad‑hoc tree works that will vary on a day‑to‑day basis. Be prepared to work at any site located within the Cheshire East Borough. Work in a safe and efficient manner following the Council’s policies, procedures, risk assessments and safe working practices. Work outside in all weather conditions. Complete all relevant documentation and records (handwritten and electronic) in a timely and comprehensive manner in line with agreed policies and procedures. Qualifications Lantra or NPTC qualifications CS30, CS31, CS38 and CS39 (or equivalent). Mewp operator qualification (desirable). Certified to operate a woodchipper. Emergency at work first aid qualification. Full UK driving licence (B+E or C1+E trailer entitlement desirable but not essential). Experience Minimum 2 years practical experience in arboriculture. Work‑related experience with on‑ and off‑the‑job training. Evidence of a broad range of arboricultural activities and basic use of ICT. Additional Competencies Knowledge of working at height regulations. Effective communication skills. Flexible and can‑do attitude. Good health & safety practices.
