Electrical Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the delivery of complex marine and subsea engineering projects. This is a hands-on, design-focused role ideal for engineers who enjoy working across requirements, electrical design, documentation, and validation activities. You’ll contribute to critical subsea and rescue-sub systems, producing high-quality electrical designs and ensuring compliance with demanding industry standards.This is a 6 month contract, outside of IR35. This role will be worked on a hybrid basis, across our clients sites in either Glasgow or Aberdeen.ResponsibilitiesProduce and develop electrical specifications, test plans, and supporting technical documentation.Generate high-quality 2D drawings using AutoCAD or SolidWorks, including SLDs and detailed schematics.Create 3D panel designs and support wider panel/enclosure layout activities.Deliver cable and penetrator designs for subsea and marine applications, ensuring stringent compliance with internal and external standards.Apply and interpret DNV and Lloyd’s classification requirements throughout the design lifecycle.Support instrumentation-related work, including sensor technologies, environmental controls, and interface systems (RS232, CANbus, I2C).Contribute to validation and testing phases later in the project, ensuring requirements traceability and technical accuracy.Produce clear reporting, documentation, and technical writing to support project milestones, reviews, and audits.Liaise with team leads, production, and wider engineering groups to ensure integration and alignment across disciplines.RequirementsStrong background as an Electrical Engineer, ideally within subsea, marine, defence, or related heavy-engineering environments.Proficiency in AutoCAD or SolidWorks for 2D drawings; working experience with 3D panel or enclosure design is highly desirable.Experience with cable systems, penetrators, subsea hardware, or instrumentation systems.Working knowledge of DNV and Lloyd’s marine classification standards.Ability to interpret engineering requirements and translate them into compliant, high-quality designs.Strong technical documentation and specification writing skills.Subsea, submarine, or rescue-sub experience is highly beneficial.SC clearance is an advantage (or eligibility for clearance).If you think you are suitable, please apply belowGet in touchCMC provide expert engineering solutions on an international capacity for advanced engineering projects.
