Base pay range About International Students House (ISH) International Students House (ISH), based in central London near Regent’s Park, is a vibrant and inclusive student community offering accommodation, scholarships, and social support for students from the UK and around the world. We are expanding our team as we open a new site at 238 Kennington Lane, and we’re looking for reliable, detail-oriented Cleaners/Porters to join our friendly Housekeeping team. The Role You will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our residents, guests, and staff. Depending on your shift, your duties may include: Cleaning bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, terraces, and communal areas to a high standard. Emptying bins and managing waste disposal. Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors. Cleaning washrooms and replenishing consumables (soap, toilet rolls, etc.). Making beds and changing bedding. Dusting and polishing furniture and fittings. Reporting maintenance issues promptly. Operating cleaning equipment safely and using approved materials in line with COSHH regulations. Supporting the overall cleanliness and smooth running of the building. Shift Patterns Early Shift: 7:00am - 1:00pm Late Shift: 5:00pm - 11:00pm There is an expectation of self-cover, meaning at least two cleaners are available for both early and late shifts. Five floating shifts are included in the structure to provide flexibility and cover as needed. Person Specification Experience Previous cleaning experience in a similar environment (e.g. halls of residence, hotel, or student accommodation) preferred. Skills and Attributes Ability to follow instructions and work independently. Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy. Attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards. Basic understanding of cleaning equipment and chemicals (training provided). Able to communicate effectively with team members and residents. Physical Requirements Comfortable with manual handling, bending, lifting, and standing for long periods. Health & Safety Awareness of hygiene and safety standards and willingness to follow procedures. Hours and Flexibility This role offers 30 hours per week worked across AM and PM shifts, Monday to Friday, with flexibility required to cover annual leave and occasional shift swaps. Benefits Holidays: 20 days + bank holidays, rising by 1 day per year up to 25 days. Pension: Access to ISH’s contributory pension scheme.
