Rotational Physiotherapist – Band 5 Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Hospital An opportunity exists for a General Rotational Band 5 Physiotherapist to join our Therapy Service team at Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Hospital. The Therapy Services Department is committed to providing an excellent environment for professional growth and offers regular training, supervision and support for career progression. This role requires HCPC registration. The post holder will provide high quality clinical care to patients, in line with the Trust values and in accordance with professional regulations. They will work as an autonomous practitioner in providing physiotherapy assessment, treatment and management to own designated caseload of patients and to maintain up to date physiotherapy records. They will use evidence based principles/current best practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions. The post holder will experience through rotations in Respiratory, Medical rehabilitation, Musculoskeletal out patients, Hand therapy, Orthopaedics, Neurology, Paediatrics, Emergency Department, Pelvic Health and at the Royal Marsden Hospital. The post holder is expected to consolidate and develop knowledge and skills through participation in CPD. The post holder is expected to actively participate in seven day working and the out of hours oncall service. Some roles may require weekend shifts at multiple sites. Clinical To be professionally and legally responsible for all aspects of your work, including the management of patients in your care. To be able to carry and prioritise your own designated clinical caseload, working as an autonomous practitioner, with regular supervision from your supervisor. To determine the patients’ understanding of the physiotherapy intervention in order to gain valid, informed consent and to be able to work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment. To use a range of verbal and non‑verbal communication tools when communicating with patients/carers to maximise the patient’s rehabilitation potential. This will include communication with people with complex communication difficulties such as dysphasia, deafness, and dementia, mental health problems or who speak English as a second language or who have difficulty accepting their diagnosis. Professional To maintain professional behaviour at all times and promote a positive image of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust at all times, in line with Trust values. To comply with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and the Health and Care Professions Council codes of professional conduct at all times. To maintain professional registration with the Health and Care Professions Council. To be responsible for personal continuous professional development by the use of self‑education, reflective practice and active participation in the in‑service training program and to maintain a CPD portfolio. Organisational To achieve effective daily management of a caseload of patients including prioritisation of clinical work, meetings and training, working flexibly according to staffing levels. To carry an identified bleep as required by rotation, and be able to respond to unpredictable work patterns and frequent interruptions. To make appropriate referrals to other physiotherapists and other members of the multidisciplinary team, and co‑ordinate intervention for joint sessions as required. To ensure timely communication of assessment findings, treatment and outcomes to other involved disciplines through the provision of social services reports, discharge letters etc. Effort To carry out assessment and treatment using manual and therapeutic handling techniques which require moderate to high physical effort and concentration, frequently during each working day. To comply with the trust manual handling policy at all times. To work alone at times, depending on rotation, eg domiciliary settings. To deal sensitively with patients who have a high level of anxiety or aggression due to, for example, pain, fear, or dementia. General Covid‑19 vaccination is a condition of employment for this role, unless an exemption applies.
