The post is offered on a 12-month fixed term basis and provides an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven candidate to join a progressive and dynamic department. They will contribute to developing our goals of clinical excellence, training of the highest quality in Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine and world class research. We offer a range of clinical fellowships, supervised by experts in their field. These include: Regional Anaesthesia Airway Thoracic Anaesthesia Complex Major Surgery/Bariatrics Obstetric Anaesthesia Bespoke fellowships may be accommodated, dependent on availability. There is typically one post per subspecialty. You may wish to consider interest in multiple subspecialties at application/interview. Start date Wednesday 5th August 2025 Main duties of the job The post is for a clinical fellowship and will involve a majority of clinical sessions in the chosen fellowship. This will be combined with sessions in other areas of personal interest and department needs. Fellows will also be given the opportunity to run appropriate elective lists independently to build their practice. The post provides half a day per week for research, education and management. Fellows will be encouraged and expected to contribute to the department by engaging in QI, audits, teaching or research, and will be supported to do so. The candidate sought will be self-driven and proactive. On call commitments are typical 1 in 9, covering theatres and/or the labour ward. Where the on call rota is full, an alternative rota will apply - this will be discussed beforehand should it apply. Come and be a part of the best NHS trust in England to work for, according to our staff Person Specification Knowledge and Qualifications MBBS Primary FRCA Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practise Final FRCA MRCP Completion of a Higher Degree Completed educator training Experience Ability to practice anaesthesia in general specialties; experience of high risk anaesthesia and obstetrics Familiarity with routine and complex airway management Demonstrable involvement in clinical governance, audit and/or QI. Active participation as a trainer in education programmes Lead for audit and quality improvement projects with demonstrable and publishable effects Experience of research with publishable results. Skills and Abilities Able to anaesthetise for a wide variety of surgery in patients with multiple co morbidities Able to perform neuroaxial techniques Communication Ability to communicate clearly in written and spoken English Ability to see patients as people. Personal and People Development Ability to work cooperatively with others. Ability to take responsibility, lead, make decisions and exert appropriate authority. Specific Requirements Willingness to participate in on-call rotas, as required.
