High performance starts with you.Purpose of the Role:To provide car parts support, maintain and improve the race logistics stock and lifing functions both electronically and physically, within a car area/s as specified by the Logistics Manager. Ensuring stock control, correct build and kitting practices, servicing routines are maintained, components and assemblies are fit for use. Deliver stock, parts logistics programs, projects, and continuous improvement strategies to support events both at and away from the McLaren Technology Centre (MTC).Role Dimensions:The position will involve unsociable hours and substantial weekend work and may also involve some event attendance and overseas travel, with the potential of a trackside rotation for up to six months of the year if desired. You will collaborate closely with the Project Management team to ensure parts are supplied to meet production, development and the wider race and test schedule.You will be responsible for the co-ordination of component servicing, kitting, lifing, logistics and stock control within an area/areas as specified by the logistics manager.You will have excellent understanding of car component stock management and parts flow in a Formula One environment.On occasion, you may also be required to support in areas outside of the current car model, including but not exclusive to; TPC and Heritage.Principal Accountabilities:Ensuring correct transaction, service requirements and routing of components through the service function, to guarantee they are shipped and fit for purpose for each event and allocated accordinglyManage Race Team stock control and parts supply to events or car buildEnsure post event Service Race Return and compliance to the Lifing ProgramManage stock to correct issueLiaise with the Project Management team on shortages and reorder pointsBe the point of contact for Race Team requests from trackside that fall within your area of responsibilityPromote department adherence to process and proceduresEngage in the creation, planning and delivery of the department and wider business continuous improvement activitiesSupport car assembly and race team functions by kitting of components for build and/or pre-fitsPacking and unpacking of shipments to and from race and test events, working to the strict deadlines as outlined by the logistics manager or team leaderBe responsible for the archiving of obsolete of out-of-date componentsJob requirementsKnowledge, Skills and ExperienceExperience of stock control systemsAbility to work to extremely tight and demanding deadlines with conflicting prioritiesIt is desirable to have knowledge of current Formula One race car components and assembliesIt is desirable to have participated in a Motorsport based team-oriented environmentExperience of managing complex motorsport parts and assemblies on demanding timescalesWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office products and digital systems, to drive process improvements regarding digital build and lifing managementIt is Desirable to have Experience of Lifing control system or similarGood Knowledge of race car build process and proceduresAbility to interpret engineering specification drawings and BOM dataExcels at cross-function planningPersonal Attributes:Flexible approach to prioritise effectively and change focus quicklyProactive; takes the opportunity to use initiative where possibleAbility and willingness to travel abroadLeads by example; sets and manages expectations appropriatelyMoves towards problems thoughtfullyHighly self-motivated to set ambitious targets Confident, self-sufficient and resilientExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsRemains calm and can make clear-headed decisions whilst under pressureWhat McLaren can offer?We constantly strive to be better tomorrow than we are today.
