Band 6 CBT Trainee CAMHS Practitioner - SOLAR Join to apply for the Band 6 CBT Trainee CAMHS Practitioner - SOLAR role at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. Are you looking for an opportunity to develop your skills in delivering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy? If so, we have opportunities in our Solar mental health service for 0‑19 year olds starting in January 2025. This is a one-year fixed-term post for registered practitioners to work as a Mental Health Practitioner in Solar or with practitioners who can demonstrate the necessary skills via the Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes (KSA) route. The post provides the opportunity to complete the Children and Young People’s Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (CYP IAPT) training in CBT that is run in collaboration with the University of Derby. Key responsibilities Work as a Mental Health Practitioner within Solar for the duration of the one-year course. Split time between training (2 days), clinical work (2.5 days) and study time (0.5 day) each week, with additional outside‑hour study and assignment completion expected. Attend teaching blocks, weekly teaching and supervision at the University of Derby, and travel as required. Provide interventions using core CYP IAPT principles for children, young people or families, under supervision. Attend all taught and self‑study days required by the education provider, as specified in the CYP IAPT curriculum. Work with diverse cultural backgrounds, using interpreters when necessary, committed to equal opportunities. Training and development Training involves teaching blocks as well as weekly teaching and supervision days at the University of Derby. The course is envisaged to start in February 2025. After successful completion of the course the fixed‑term contract will end, however applicants are encouraged to apply for any vacant posts within the service/organisation.
