Graduate Veterinary Surgeon

You will work 40 hours per week. You will be part of our on call and weekend rotas. The rota is approximately 1 in 5 currently with new grads initially shadowing and then as their skills develop taking the lead on call with rota'd support from an experienced vet until they feel fully confident. After working a weekend there are 1.5 days off in lieu (the Monday pm and the following Friday), after working a night on call there is an early finish from lunchtime. We have a supportive team with a wide range of experiences from senior vets with specialist qualifications to more recent graduates with a broad range of interests. The team are friendly, approachable and are experienced at supporting new colleagues. Unlock Your Passions at Scarsdale Vets: Scarsdale Vets are a group of Veterinary practices in the Midlands, with eleven small animal practices across Derby & Burton, a state‑of‑the‑art small animal hospital and a dedicated team of Farm and Equine vets serving the East Midlands region. You will be based at our Farm and Equine practice in Markeaton. We are close to M1, have good rail links and are less than 30 minutes away from East Midlands Airport. We have a team of 8 Vets, with support from our excellent ATTs and TB testers. The equine nurses at the practice also support the farm team. Everyone is super friendly and work well together. We have regular socials and are a happy friendly team. Within our team we have certificate holders in Cattle Health and production and Camelid Practice, other vets are currently studying for certificates. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone wanting to get good exposure to farm practice within a supportive and friendly team. We have a fantastic clinic with inpatient and surgical facilities. Clinic facilities are shared with the equine practice (such as x‑ray and endoscopy) as well as the usual up to date farm equipment. We have one main site where the office is based, however travel to the client's farms is a large part of the job.
