Role Overview We’re looking for someone to join our Façade Engineering team who has a strong technical and practical focus within their passion for façades. You would be joining a well-established team that is now focusing on specific sectors to enhance and grow. Key Responsibilities Lead façade projects as a job leader. Work as part of a single or multi-disciplinary team, attending and chairing meetings with architects, contractors, etc. in an advisory capacity. Develop jobs technically to reach conclusions or recommendations. Provide input on bids and work‑winning. Support senior staff in providing strong design leadership on façade issues to the client’s team and stakeholders. Maintain good client relations throughout the job and work with a variety of stakeholders. Mentor more junior team members, potentially leading to line management. Required Skills & Experience Solid foundation of façade engineering experience with a practical understanding of typical façade systems (installation, opening works, investigations). Familiar with façade detailed drawings and able to identify and understand support/restraint strategy, weathertightness approach, passive fire strategy, thermal lines and cold bridges, airtightness strategy, and movement/tolerance strategy. Proficient in façade performance, able to identify issues affecting functionality and longevity (weathertightness, thermal insulation, materials). Foundation knowledge of façade structural behaviour and ability to identify potential structural issues. Experience in the practical aspects of handling and fabricating typical cladding materials. Academic knowledge of Structural Engineering, MEP Services, Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a joint qualification in any of these; formal qualifications such as an MSc in Façade Engineering from Bath University or PhD level research are of great interest. Achieved Chartered Engineer, Professional Engineer or equivalent registration with the ECUK or other appropriate body. Experience working on international projects and domestic projects; willing to travel from time to time, especially to local sites. Established senior engineer capable of providing design leadership in the façade discipline; confident in a secure technical base. Proactive approach to identifying potential risks or issues, ability to capture information succinctly and provide comprehensive recommendations. Ability to understand and react to changing designs, communicate ideas clearly in speech and good quality hand sketches or other means.
