Job Title: Electrical Maintenance Engineer Location: Nasmyth Bulwell LTD, Wharf Road, Industrial Estate, Pinxton, Nottinghamshire, NG16 6LE Job type: Full Time / Permanent Salary: £21.15 per hour (equivalent to £43,992 per year) depending on experience Hours per week: 40hrs per week Start & finish times: Monday to Friday – 7am – 3.30pm About the company Nasmyth is a leading supplier to the aviation industry, manufacturing everything from airframe assemblies to engines. We also specialise in instrumentation components for commercial airliners, business jets, military aircraft, helicopters and much more. Summary of role We are looking for a self‑motivated technician with strong aerospace electrical knowledge, good communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams. The role involves performing electrical maintenance, repairs, and installations on CNC equipment, PLCs, hydraulics, and pneumatics, while also supporting general site maintenance. Responsibilities include diagnosing faults, managing coolant procedures, and ensuring compliance with Health & Safety and company policies. Professional electrical certifications are advantageous. Key Responsibilities Responsible for carrying out a wide variety of Electrical repairs, installations and maintenance tasks, including CNC, PLCs, Hydraulics and Pneumatics, to ensure machines are operating to optimal functionality and to minimise machine downtime. Able to carry out Fitting, Welding, Fabrication, Plumbing and Joinery, where required to ensure the site is well maintained at all times. Carry out weekly checks on compressors and monthly checks on emergency lighting across site. Able to operate and capture Balbar results and may also interpret and diagnose the results and make machine adjustments to ensure machines are operating to optimum functionality and to minimise machine downtime. Where applicable, able to manage the coolant management procedures, including monitoring coolant strengths, logging results and running the dipstick programme, to ensure coolant is kept within the recommended company limits. Identify and address issues such as wiring defects, circuit malfunctions, and component degradation. Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety, ensuring guidelines are followed in accordance with the Company Health & Safety policy and legislative requirements. Working in accordance with the company's policies and goals to ensure consistency across the Business Unit structure. Share knowledge and mentor junior / apprentice technicians to build a skilled and capable maintenance team. Any other duties that may reasonably be required by the Company from time to time. As a maintenance engineer in Nasmyth Group, the primary objective is to ensure the safety, reliability, and optimal performance of electrical systems and components within the related equipment. By implementing rigorous maintenance procedures, conducting regular inspections, and staying up to date with industry standards, the aim is to minimise downtime, prevent failures, and contribute to the overall operational efficiency of all site systems. Role Requirements Strong understanding of aerospace electrical systems, avionics, and regulations. Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with internal and external parties at all levels. Experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of aerospace electrical systems. Self‑motivated with the ability to multi‑task, with guidance and supervision. Effective communication and collaboration abilities within multidisciplinary teams. Desirable Skills Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Electrical Technician) are advantageous.
