Location London, England, United Kingdom Apply Digital is hybrid/remote friendly – the successful candidate is expected to be in office 2‑3 times a week from our London, UK office. The Role Solution Architects are key technical leaders who translate a client’s ambitions into feasible technical realities. You will guide projects from discovery through build, designing robust, scalable, and AI‑enabled systems while balancing architectural elegance with pragmatic delivery. What Success Looks Like Beyond diagrams, you steward the technical vision from first conversation to final code. In the early months you partner with Product and Strategy teams, build trust with senior clients, and author core blueprints. Over time you become the central technical pillar, foreseeing and neutralising risks and shaping how we design high‑stakes digital platforms. What You’ll Be Responsible For Leading Technical Discovery: partner with Product Managers and client stakeholders to run discovery workshops and feasibility studies, decomposing large, ambiguous problems into clear technical roadmaps. Owning Technical Blueprints: author and own core technical blueprints, including reference architectures, integration strategies, migration plans, and governance models. Evaluating and Selecting Technology: lead the evaluation and selection of technologies, frameworks, patterns, and platforms, balancing innovation with pragmatism. Guiding Build Phases: steward the architectural vision during build, partnering with Staff Engineers and delivery teams, attending ceremonies to ensure adherence to agreed patterns. Communicating Value and Trade‑offs: serve as the lead technical voice, clearly articulating complex decisions and trade‑offs to executive‑level clients and internal teams. Managing Architectural Risk: identify, document, and mitigate long‑term risks (scalability, security, platform choice, technical debt) in Architectural Decision Records. Skills & Experience We’re Looking For Foundation in Delivery: proven experience shipping complex, multi‑system projects, often as a Staff Engineer or senior technical leader. Systems‑Level Thinking: ability to design and reason about interconnected systems and their long‑term behavior. Consulting‑Grade Communication: blend of technical authority with high emotional intelligence, building consensus with senior clients and articulating business value. Deep Technical Breadth: strong knowledge of modern architectural patterns, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), data modeling, security, and integration strategies. Architectural Vision: design solutions that are elegant, forward‑thinking, and built to last. Cloud‑Certified Excellence: current senior‑level certification on a major cloud platform (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, GCP Professional Cloud Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert). Pragmatism: balance architectural purity with deliverable solutions, aligning with client budgets and timelines. Life at Apply Digital Great projects: broaden your skills on engaging projects with international brands that have global impact. An inclusive and safe environment: we’re committed to building a culture where everyone feels celebrated, welcome, and safe. Learning opportunities: generous training budgets, partner tech certifications, custom learning plans, workshops, mentorship, and peer support. Vacation policy: 24 days of vacation plus 8 bank holidays. Benefits: Vitality benefits designed to enhance health, well‑being, and work‑life balance. Flexible work arrangements: remote, in‑office, or blended options. Apply Digital is committed to building a culture where differences are celebrated and everyone feels welcome. We value equal opportunity and nurture an inclusive workplace where our individual differences are recognized and valued.
