We're a global engineering, management, and development consultancy. Our purpose is to improve society by considering social outcomes in everything we do, relentlessly focusing on excellence and digital innovation, transforming our clients' businesses, our communities and employee opportunities.

A fundamental part of this is respecting each person's differences and striving to meet their needs.

About the division

Environmental and social considerations are central to Mott MacDonald's Purpose and its offerings across all sectors and territories. Our environment and social business provides essential services and innovative solutions which anticipate our clients' needs across all sectors.

Overview of role

Mott MacDonald is a global management and development consultancy adding value to projects for public and private clients worldwide. Our specialist Stakeholder Engagement Team works with clients to help them deliver major infrastructure projects across the UK. We engage and consult with technical and community stakeholders so that we can maximise benefits of infrastructure development. We work on a wide range of projects, applying our skills across many sectors including transport, water and energy particularly. Our team is passionate about promoting equality, diversity and inclusion and we work with and on behalf of groups which are often under-represented.

Due to a number of new client projects, we are looking for principal and associate consultants to join our team. We are looking for people who are interested in understanding how infrastructure interacts with local communities. Successful candidates will be involved in managing impact assessments, evidence reviews, policy research, stakeholder engagement, consultation and reporting. You will line manage project teams as well as delivering assignments for our existing client base, liaise with new clients, and be involved in winning new work to grow the business.

You will have both a personal and professional passion for social outcomes, social science, and research. You will have an excellent track record at delivering projects in a variety of sectors for a range of public and private sector clients. You will be able to demonstrate the following skills, competencies and experience:

  • Degree qualified (2:1 or above) in social science, humanities or a related discipline, or in transport planning, town planning, regeneration or a related discipline.
  • Project management / line management.
  • Report writing and delivering presentations.
  • Engagement and consultation with stakeholder and/or community groups.
  • Designing and undertaking qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Understanding of equality, diversity and accessibility.
  • Knowledge of UK infrastructure sectors.
  • Knowledge of UK planning regimes.
  • Strong track record of successful infrastructure project development.

The following experience and sector knowledge would be desirable but is not essential:

  • Undertaking impact assessments, analysis, and appraisal.
  • Writing and winning bids for new work.
  • Environmental impact assessment.
  • Gender analysis and inclusion.
  • Knowledge of the transport, water and energy sectors.

UK Immigration

Mott MacDonald Ltd. are not currently offering sponsorship to candidates under the Skilled Worker visa route in the UK. This decision is as a consequence of the changes made to the Skilled Worker route by the UK Government in April 2024. We continue to welcome applications from candidates who are eligible for alternative immigration routes in the UK, that do not require sponsorship as a Skilled Worker now or in future.

Equality, diversity, and inclusion

We put equality, diversity, and inclusion at the heart of our business, seeking to promote fair employment procedures and practices to ensure equal opportunities for all. We encourage individual expression in our workplace and are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels they can contribute.
