Senior Temporary Works Engineer

We are a specialist engineering consultancy providing temporary works design solutions to leading contractors across the UK. We are now offering an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Temporary Works Engineer (5+ years’ experience) to play a pivotal role in expanding our presence in Glasgow and across the North of the UK. Role & Responsibilities In this full‑time role (37.5 hours per week, flexible start between 8:30 am and 9:00 am), you will take a leading position within our growing Glasgow office and play a key part in establishing our new Temporary Works capability across the North of the UK. Lead the development and growth of a new Temporary Works team, providing technical guidance, mentoring, and support to junior engineers. Oversee the full lifecycle of temporary works projects, from early concept and detailed design through to delivery, ensuring solutions are safe, practical, and compliant with industry standards. Manage the technical and commercial aspects of small, medium, and long‑term projects, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and client expectations are consistently achieved. Build and maintain strong client relationships, supporting business development activity and helping to identify new opportunities within Scotland and the North of England. Apply strong conceptual understanding, engineering judgment, and visualization skills to address a wide range of temporary works challenges. Promote a culture of quality, safety, continuous improvement, and learning within your team. Work collaboratively with colleagues across the business to ensure coordinated and efficient delivery of multi‑disciplinary design solutions. What We’re Looking For An HNC, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in temporary works design. Chartered status or active progression towards ICE or IStructE chartership. Strong leadership abilities, with confidence in mentoring, independent decision‑making, and managing client expectations. A self‑motivated approach, with a passion for continuous learning, professional development, and staying at the forefront of temporary works practice. Excellent communication skills and the ability to present technical concepts clearly to clients, contractors, and colleagues.
