Clerks play a vital role in the justice system, liaising with judges, legal professionals, and the public, while producing accurate and timely court documents. This role requires confidence, resilience, and strong communication skills. Key Details Job Title: Crown Court Clerk Employer: HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) Location: Kingston‑upon‑Thames, London, UK Salary: £33,551 – £35,564 per annum Hours: Full‑Time (37 hours/week), Part‑Time, Job Share, Flexible Working available Contract Type: Permanent Closing Date: 10 December 2025 Civil Service Grade: EO Number of Roles: 3 Reserve List: 12 months Work Location: Office‑based (hybrid arrangements possible, minimum 60% office‑based) Visa Sponsorship: Not eligible for new Skilled Worker visas under current immigration rules Role Overview Crown Court Clerks are responsible for ensuring the smooth running of Crown Court hearings. They must be confident speaking in court, liaising with judges and participants, and producing accurate documentation. The role requires emotional resilience, professionalism, and the ability to handle sensitive matters calmly.
