Using your extensive perioperative knowledge you will actively contribute to the effective running of a multi‑speciality theatre department and join a team of passionate professionals delivering exceptional perioperative care. Main duties of the job You will lead a multidisciplinary theatre team in our new £36 M surgical centre which opened in 2025. The Friarage surgical Centre has 6 main operating theatres, 2 minor operating theatres, a 2‑bay regional block room, 12‑bay recovery. You will work closely with the Senior sister for the admissions and discharge areas of the surgical centre maintaining patient flow throughout the building. Using your extensive perioperative management knowledge you will be instrumental in collaborative decision making to drive an increasing trajectory in operational performance in planned elective intraoperative care. You will execute and administer daily management of the theatre teams, lead on rostering to set KPI's, participate in list reviews, have a strong sense of service improvement and liaise with key stakeholders to ensure safety, productivity and efficiency of the operating theatre department. You will champion and deliver strategy, gaining support from key stakeholders to deliver operational objectives and advocate for the theatre service. You will confidently and effectively mitigate and manage risk to maintain the safety of staff and patients and continue to promote an open and honest culture within the department. Person Specification Knowledge & Skills Ability to work within the boundaries of the NMC / HCPC code of professional conduct Evidence of professional development An awareness of Government Documents / Policies in relation to changes in the National Health Service. Demonstrate an awareness of clinical governance and risk management. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Strong leadership skills Demonstrates the ability to be functional as both a team leader and team member. Audit, investigatory and root cause analysis skills. Proficient in IT and digital systems. Proficient in changing culture, work processes. Development of policy, SOP, guidance. Lead on policy / SOP development Qualifications & Training RN or ODP with an active professional registration with either the RCN or HCPC Holds a first Degree in Nursing or Operating Department practice. Has undergone formal leadership training and holds a relevant qualification Masters degree in a relevant Health or leadership / Management subject Experience Knowledge and experience of providing person centred care Previous experience of managing teams.
