Strategic Procurement Manager, Delivery Services

Amazon Delivery Services is seeking an experienced Strategic Procurement Manager to support the growing volume and complexity of partnership agreements.

The successful candidate will be on the front lines of putting in place partnership agreements with carriers, responsible for defining sourcing strategy, spend analysis, strategic partnerships, vendor identification and development, as well as tactical elements such as leading negotiations, including creating proposals and collaborating with internal stakeholders (such as the legal, finance, security and compliance teams) and closing. The Strategic Procurement Manager will need to understand the impact of contract terms, compliance obligations, business concerns, etc., and be able to explain contract terms to stakeholders whilst identifying ways to meet customers' needs. The successful candidate will lead the effort to resolve all carrier questions and concerns in contract negotiations, including collaboration with internal stakeholders on specific areas of concern.

The successful candidate will be an expert in bringing the account teams and the customer to final closure including obtaining required approvals, creating final agreements, and managing their delivery and execution. The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about delivery services, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.

This role can be based from either Sydney or Melbourne.

Responsibilities Include:
  1. Develop and implement sourcing strategy to achieve step changes in cost structure, capacity and diversification by analysing and reviewing transportation capability in the AU market against business requirements.
  2. Identify and develop carrier partners across categories, especially with a focus on developing partners who can drive innovation, sustainability, speed and customer experience.
  3. Advise and provide thought leadership on the execution of competitive commercial, channel, and partner deal opportunities.
  4. Develop innovative commercial models and negotiate delivery services agreements.
  5. Execute contracts and competitive structures- maximising the value of opportunities consistent with Delivery Services objectives and requirements.
  6. Work closely with global partners and local stakeholders to understand the existing vendor negotiation relevant tools and contracts, and assess the gaps between what exists and what is needed in AU market.
  7. Build a comprehensive negotiation strategy in line with global best practice and local needs.
  8. Drive effective application of negotiation tools and products.
  9. Continuously identify specific negotiation best practices and training needs, and drive negotiation tools enhancement.
  10. Engage directly with the partner on commercial and contractual terms.
  11. Provide expertise on deal structuring and advise key stakeholders on the impact of deal terms: provide creative solutions to the stakeholder and leadership.
  12. Close commercial transactions: brief senior management and coordinate internal and customer stakeholders.
Skills and Abilities:
  1. Demonstrated capability of handling complex negotiations.
  2. Ability to lead partner-facing negotiations.
  3. Ability to explain standard agreement terms to counterparties and negotiate fallback positions to those terms where appropriate.
  4. Ability to act as a trusted advisor to business teams to support the strategy, negotiation and execution of enterprise agreements.
  5. Strong customer orientation and commercial acumen.
  6. Owns responsibility for organization's success, thinking and acting beyond immediate team or area of focus.
  7. Ability to drive strong cross-functional engagement with both internal and external teams.
  8. Demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple negotiations.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or equivalent qualification.
  2. Previous experience in delivering and influencing business processes using data analysis, modelling and forecasting.
  3. Previous experience in commercial contract experience and facilitation of large cross-functional teams.
  4. Strong oral and written communication skills- ability to simplify complex topics for broad audiences.
  5. Attention to detail and high ability for data mining- with strong analytical orientation; comfortable using databases and analytical tools and making data-based decisions.
  6. Creative and ideas-driven in finding new solutions/ designing innovative methods, systems and processes.
  7. Ability to prepare, report and interpret large sets of data.

This role suits a procurement professional who has a business, commerce or engineering degree however remains open to all bachelors. Proven experience of working in a fast-paced, highly complex analytical environment preferably in Supply Chain, e-Commerce, Consulting or Finance. Highly analytical and capable of communicating effectively with customers and senior management. Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
