Speciality Doctor in Anaesthetics and ITU Closing date is 18 December 2025 We are a busy anaesthetic department with a commitment to train both local and international trainees and have an active educational programme. The successful candidate will have extensive experience within anaesthesia and a minimum of 4 years postgraduate experience with 2 years experience in Anaesthesia. Successful applicants will undertake anaesthetic sessions across a range of surgical specialties including general surgery, trauma, maxilla-facial, urology and gynaecology. The Anaesthetic department at Worthing is extremely forward thinking and has established itself within the research arena, with multiple presentations at National and International meetings. The hospital is located between the sea and the South Downs National Park, giving ample opportunity to pursue a variety of different interests. Main duties of the job Take part in a general anaesthetics rota, comprising anaesthetic duties for a wide range of surgical interventions, both planned and emergency across various specialties. Provide regular obstetric and ITU sessions as detailed in the job plan. Act as part of the Junior Doctor on‑call team, rotating across all specialities (Cepod, Obstetrics and ITU) with a 1:10 rota ratio, and recognise with an additional 2PA allowance. Person specification Experience/Qualifications Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice. Four years post‑graduation, with two years in the relevant specialty. Clinical Skills and Experience Understanding of clinical risk management. Evidence of having undertaken own development to improve understanding. Knowledge Breadth of experience in and outside specialty. Organisation and Planning Experience and ability to work in multi‑professional teams. Understanding of NHS / Clinical governance / Resource constraints. Evidence of managerial skills: achievements / courses attended. Academic and Research Evidence of participation in audit. Research experience. Publications. Prizes and honours. Appropriate progression of career to date. Personal Attributes Evidence of good communication skills, both oral and written.
