Support Worker

We are pleased to announce we have an exciting opportunity here at Potens for a Support Worker. Cecil Court is in the heart of Langley Moor village, and the property has 18 one-bedroom apartments. We provide specialised support to 18 adults with mental health needs. Our service is recovery focused, empowering the people we support, to progress to living independent lives, within the local community. All applicants who rely on public transport must live in the Durham area due to start/finish times. What we’ll give you: Full time, 40 hours per week. A generous referral scheme. What you’ll be doing: Assisting the people, we support to engage in activities within the local community. The support we give is focused on boosting morale, increasing levels of existing skills, and to support the learning of new skills. You will motivate the people we support to rebuild their confidence and assist them to see a bright future for themselves. We operate on a person-centred view, and we enjoy taking the lead and hearing ideas from the people we support. Shift times (you must be able to work all) 8 am to 8 pm, 12 pm to 12 am, 8 am to 10 pm and 8 pm to 8 am. Please be sure you can get to and from the service for these times. Weekend and Bank holiday working is required. Who you are: Flexible and open to change. Positive with a “can do attitude”. Mental Health knowledge is preferred, however, not essential, as full training will be provided. Highly motivated with the ability to encourage others. All applicants who rely on public transport must live in the Durham area due to start/finish times. Drivers preferred.
