Tesco Shift Leader – Days – High Street Sandyford Express Location: Stoke‑On‑Trent, England, United Kingdom Pay starts at £14.76 an hour, rising to £15.97 inside the M25; additional payments may apply based on location. Guaranteed minimum of 16 hours per week; flexible to work as few as 12 hours. Availability Shifts will be scheduled within the following windows, with 3‑week notice of exact dates: Sunday 05:30–23:00 Monday 05:30–23:00 Wednesday 05:30–23:00 Thursday 05:30–23:00 Saturday 05:30–23:00 Responsibilities As a Shift Leader you’ll: Work in a fast‑paced retail environment. Take ownership of running duty shifts, coordinating the team to deliver a clean, well‑stocked store that exceeds customer expectations. Be present for customers, listening to them and ensuring they leave satisfied. Look for ways to improve service, coach colleagues and give feedback. Guide and support colleagues to keep the store safe and pleasant. Monitor store performance and assist managers with actions to improve operations. Lead by example, setting a positive tone for your team. Key Responsibilities Coordinating the store team for a fuss‑free customer experience. Supporting colleagues with daily priorities and breaks. Opening, closing and covering duties, ensuring safety decisions. Acting as the main contact when the manager is absent. Maintaining store cleanliness and presentation. Assisting managers with seasonal and community events. Fostering an inclusive team atmosphere. Delivering outstanding customer service. Keeping the team updated on communications. Staying informed on store performance and identifying improvements. Coordinating store improvements and removing obstacles. Following health and safety procedures. Recognising and celebrating colleague achievements. Qualifications & Skills Excellent customer‑service orientation. Strong relationship‑building skills to create an inclusive team environment. Clear communication across multiple channels. Leadership capability, stepping in when the manager is absent. Ability to make flexible, sound decisions and manage change. Motivational skills to inspire the team beyond expectations. Curiosity and a proactive mindset for continuous improvement.
