Responsibilities Responsible for day‑to‑day maintenance and operation of the school site, including buildings, grounds, and facilities at this 1 form entry school. Carry out regular health and safety checks, fire alarm testing, and ensure compliance with all statutory requirements and log on the system accordingly; basic IT skills would also be a bonus. Manage and coordinate contractors, cleaning teams, and external service providers. Lead on site security, including opening and closing the premises, monitoring access, and responding to emergencies. Oversee maintenance budgets and carry out basic repairs, improvements, and preventative maintenance. Work closely with senior leadership and school business managers to ensure the site is safe, welcoming, and well maintained. The Ideal School Caretaker Candidate Will Have Previous experience in a caretaking, facilities, or site management role (ideally in a school or similar environment). Strong working knowledge of health and safety regulations, COSHH, and premises compliance. Practical DIY and maintenance skills with the ability to carry out minor repairs independently. Good organisational and communication skills, and the ability to lead and manage others. A proactive, can‑do attitude and the flexibility to support school events and occasional out‑of‑hours requirements. A valid enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one through Reeson.
