Job TitleNursing Assistant - Nutrition SupportJob SummaryWe are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Nutritional Assistant to join Ward 6 (North Tyneside General Hospital). The role supports patients with their nutritional needs in a busy 12‑bed orthopaedic unit providing day and in‑stay joint replacements and procedures. The ideal candidate works independently and as part of a pro‑active team, has a caring and pleasant manner, and can work flexibly in a ward environment.Main DutiesAssist qualified nursing staff in providing physical nutritional support, including assisting patients with mealtimes and promoting additional nutritional snacks.Help patients order meals and provide feeding assistance where appropriate.Audit nutritional interventions and report nutrition intake to nursing staff.Maintain updated records of all additional nutritional support provided.Monitor stock levels of supplements and snacks, reorder as necessary to ensure adequate supply.Exercise accountability in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.Uphold high clinical standards and promote nutrition within the ward.About UsNorthumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust manages three major locality hospitals and a number of community hospitals and clinics, providing high‑quality patient care across North Tyneside, Wansbeck, and Hexham.All staff joining the role, including new hires, are required to complete the Northumbria Care Certificate Programme.
