Job Overview You carry out a 5‑week paid trial to determine your learning style, after which we match you to the best apprenticeship programme. As an Early Years Apprentice you will study towards either a Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years Practitioner. Responsibilities Plan and carry out child‑initiated and adult‑led play activities supporting children's individual needs and interests. Provide play activities that encourage and promote children’s numeracy, literacy and language development. Act as the key person to help children feel safe, secure and valued. Observe children and use these observations to understand their changing needs, planning for their interests in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage. Carry out care routines such as nappy changing, toileting, hand washing and feeding with care, respect and compassion. Work in partnership with other professionals, parents, colleagues and children to meet individual needs. Promote the welfare, well‑being and safety of children and report safeguarding concerns to the person in charge. Complete the apprenticeship by meeting deadlines set by your trainer/assessor and working with a mentor to develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours. Ensure all children have equal access, recognising and acting to protect those at risk of abuse in line with safeguarding policy. Apply legislation, policy and procedure to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of children (e.g. food safety, diet, allergies, COSHH, emergencies). Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English (if required) or GCSE equivalent (Maths and English GCSE grade 4). Administrative, analytical, organisational and communication skills. Attention to detail, initiative, and problem‑solving skills. Creativity, logical thinking, IT competence, and presentation skills. Number skills, Maths and English proficiency. Non‑judgemental attitude, patience, physical fitness, and teamwork. Training & Salary Wage: £15,704 for the first year, increasing with age according to National Minimum Wage rates for apprentices. Training course: Early Years Educator (Level 3). Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week (shifts to be confirmed). Start date: Friday 30 January 2026. Duration: 1 year 2 months.
