Job Description Job Role: Security OfficerWorking Hours: Zero hoursPay: £13.60 per hourLocation: Gloucester Quays, St. Ann Way, Gloucester, GL1 5SHReporting to: Operations Manager Overview An exciting opportunity has arisen at Anchor Group Services for an experienced security officer to join our established team at Gloucester Quays as a Relief Security Officer. You will conduct regular patrols throughout the shopping centre, monitor activity to ensure a safe environment for all visitors and staff, respond promptly to incidents, liaise professionally with the public and site management, and maintain accurate records in line with operational procedures. A strong presence, attention to detail, and commitment to upholding site security standards are essential. As a Relief Security Officer, you will be required to support the site security team with flexible and reliable shift coverage, which may involve a variety of hours and shifts. The successful candidate must have a valid SIA Licence as a minimum; CCTV operation is preferred but not essential, as training will be provided. Duties Include Protect the client’s property, people and assets by providing security services in direct accordance with the site’s published Assignment Instructions (AI) and site‑specific procedures. Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities, informing offenders of policy and procedures. Prevent and escalating incidents in a timely, accurate and appropriate manner to the Control Room, Shift Manager, Operations Manager or Emergency Services as appropriate. Operate and monitor site CCTV equipment. Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences and surveillance activities. Maintain organisational stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Act as first‑line support to customers and site visitors, providing a professional and friendly service. Understand customer needs, respond accordingly to queries and requests and take appropriate action. Maintain professional conduct at all times. Requirements Full 5‑year employment checkable history. Valid frontline SIA licences DS or SG. Customer service experience and confidence to handle conflict correctly. Flexible to meet job requirements. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Smart appearance and well‑groomed. Reliable and punctual. High level of enthusiasm and passion. Ability to work in a fast‑moving environment.
