Prison Officer – HMP Bullingdon Location: HMP Bullingdon, Patrick Haugh Rd, Bicester OX25 1PZStarting salary: £39,375 (39 hour week, 20% unsocial) Overview In this extraordinary role, you will carry out a variety of responsibilities on any given day. You will be assessed on communication, influencing, service quality, decision making and caring. Responsibilities Email and influencingManaging a quality serviceMaking effective decisionsCaring Qualifications & Requirements Be at least 18 years old at commencement of employment Pass a medical and fitness assessment Meet the required eyesight standard in both eyes Meet the required hearing standard (without hearing aids) Meet the Civil Service Nationality requirements Tattoos are permitted provided they are not offensive, discriminatory, violent or intimidating. Facial tattoos are generally not acceptable except for cultural, religious or medical reasons. For safety reasons, you must have a suitable standard of hearing (without hearing aids). To work in a Category A high‑security prison you must have been a resident in the UK for the last 3 years. Application Process Complete the initial application formStage 1 – Online test for basic judgement and numerical skillsStage 2 – Online task‑based assessmentOnline Assessment Centre (OAC)Medical and fitness test (eyesight, hearing, basic health screening, blood pressure) After successful OAC and medical, you will be allocated to a vacancy. Pay & Benefits Training week: 37 hours a weekAfter training you can choose 37, 39 or 41 hours a week.
