Overview The role of a Consultant in Emergency Medicine at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) involves delivering high-quality patient care, leading nursing and medical staff, and driving service improvement within the Emergency Department. Service Improvement Programme Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) Cost Improvement Programme (CIP) Implementing evidence‑based new ways of working when necessary Responsibilities Provide senior clinician services to the Emergency Department as per the job plan or as agreed within the Trust and when on call. Provide clinical leadership, taking lead clinical responsibility as rostered on a day‑to‑day basis. Act as clinical/educational supervisor to locally employed doctors and doctors in training programmes of a variety of grades and experience as appropriate. Teach and train junior staff, medical students and other healthcare professionals. Participate in departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance, audit, and Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Develop clinical protocols, guidelines and concise care bundles. Support and lead effective development of the service, ensuring alignment with the Trust’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
