Staff Nurse - Emergency Department Join to apply for the Staff Nurse - Emergency Department role at Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust An exciting opportunity has arisen for RN / RSCN to join our happy and cohesive Emergency Department team on a fixed term basis as we start a multi-million transformation and expansion. We are a busy working environment with a high turnover of patients which sees and treats children and adults with a range of conditions including minor injuries, major trauma, medical and surgical emergencies and mental health conditions. Clinical working areas include Majors, Minors, EDAU and Resus. We have a dedicated Clinical Practice Educator to ensure robust support and education as you begin your new journey. Successful applicants should have good communication skills and enjoy working in a swiftly changing and challenging environment. You will be required to work as part of a motivated team as well as being able to work on own initiative. Key Responsibilities Work internal rotation for all ED staff. Provide emergency care across all ED areas (Majors, Minors, EDAU and Resus). Assist in patient assessment, triage and handover. Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to manage acute medical, surgical and mental health cases. Support the Clinical Practice Educator and engage in continuous professional development. Adhere to trust policies and national standards for nursing care. Qualifications and Requirements Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Sessional Clinical Nurse (RSCN). Experience within emergency department or equivalent fast‑paced setting. Excellent communication, organisational and time‑management skills. Ability to work flexibly in a 12.5 hour shift pattern (day and night, 1 hour break). Commitment to NHS values and inclusive care.
