Location: HMP Wealstun Salary: £26,227.50 per annum Contract: Full Time Permanent (Job share would be considered) What We’re Looking For We are looking for a dedicated Careers Information Advice and Guidance Advisor to support individuals inside a custodial setting by providing tailored career advice, guidance, and support. This role aims to empower prisoners to identify their career aspirations, develop their skills, and leverage their strengths to prepare for successful reintegration. Key Responsibilities Facilitate engaging sessions to groups of participants on employability skills, career planning and disclosure; ensure goals are realistic and consider barriers due to convictions. Build genuine, trusting, and non-judgemental relationships with participants and create a safe space for personal growth. Engage with prison education departments, training providers, employers and probation services to create employment pathways. Conduct one-to-one assessments to identify prisoners’ skills, aspirations and training needs; develop a Prisoner Learning Plan (PLP) and manage caseload to meet sustained employment, training, education and completion outcomes. Work towards agreed KPIs and targets, ensuring quality assurance standards are met. Qualifications and Experience Career Guidance Experience or IAG qualification; experience advising on career choices, apprenticeships or training journeys. Strong communication skills: ability to engage, motivate, persuade and listen. IT and administrative skills: meticulous record keeping to measure progress and ensure effective interventions. Applicants must have an enhanced DBS check and HMPPS EL1 vetting. Background checks will be completed before working.
