About the client Our client is a leading organisation delivering advanced software and systems that play a vital role in supporting the UK’s defence capability. Due to continued growth across their UK defence portfolio, they are looking for an experienced Project Controls Lead to join their expanding team. The Project Controls Lead role As the Project Controls Lead, you will oversee the project controls function across a portfolio of complex projects, ensuring effective cost, schedule, and risk management throughout the delivery lifecycle. Responsibilities Lead, coach, and develop a dedicated team of project controls professionals Drive continuous improvement across scheduling, cost management, and performance measurement Apply Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) to recognised standards (ANSI / APM) Ensure compliance with departmental processes and support bid activity with credible estimates and risk assessments Provide clear, data‑driven insights to inform senior decision‑making and project strategy Essential skills Significant experience in Project Controls, Planning and/or Cost Management within defence or other regulated sectors Proven leadership of project controls teams across the full project lifecycle Expert knowledge of Primavera P6 and cost management systems such as Deltek COBRA or equivalent Strong understanding and application of Earned Value Management (EVM) principles Excellent stakeholder communication and influencing skills, including at senior level Must hold UK SC Security Clearance (UK Nationals only) Benefits Hybrid / flexible working options Optional compressed fortnight (every other Friday off) Private healthcare and performance‑related bonus Clear professional development and progression opportunities Work on high‑impact, nationally significant programmes Key skills Project Controls Project Planning Cost Management EVMS Earned Value Primavera P6 Deltek COBRA Defence Projects Scheduling Risk Management Leadership SC Clearance To be considered Please either apply through this advert or email me directly via lewis.hayward@searchability.com.
