Community Mental Health Nurse / Practitioner

We are excited to expand our CAMHS Duty team and are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced mental health nurse/practitioner to join us. If you're passionate about supporting young people with complex mental health needs, this is a great opportunity for personal and professional growth.

We are looking for someone who has:

  1. Experience working within a CAMHS/mental health setting
  2. Therapeutic skills to build positive relationships.
  3. Understanding of the complex needs and risks faced by young people.

Main duties of the job

Reporting into the Clinical Nurse Specialist, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Manage your own caseload, conducting initial and comprehensive assessments, especially for those presenting high risk or experiencing rapid mental health deterioration.
  2. Daily referrals meetings, where all CAMHS referrals are triaged as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  3. Consultation calls to support young people awaiting initial assessments and professionals needing referrals.
  4. Rapid response appointments for high-risk young people, offering follow-up support.
  5. Help develop care plans in collaboration with young people, including the views of families/carers, where appropriate.
  6. Supervise and support junior colleagues.

Qualifications and Training
  • RMN / RN (Mental Health), Occupational Therapist, Social Worker
  • Post registration clinical training relevant to CAMHS / Mental Health
  • Teaching and Assessing ENB 998 / Mentorship or equivalent
  • Degree in relevant subject
  • Additional Vocational training courses
Experience
  • Significant Post registration experience within a CAMHS / Mental Health setting
  • Auditing clinical standards
  • Utilisation of research in practice
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of a range of therapeutic interventions
