Senior Specialist Educational Psychologist Join Essex County Council as a Senior Specialist Educational Psychologist. About the Role Contract type: Fixed Term, 12 months Position type: Full Time (part‑time opportunities welcomed) Pay scale: Soulbury Pay Scale B (B3 to B5 plus SPA) – salary based on entry level Location: Harlow (must be mobile within Essex – driving licence or other mobility means required) Working style: Anywhere worker Closing date: 11 January 2026 Key Responsibilities Lead and develop specialist practice across Essex, supporting early intervention and statutory work. Provide expert consultation, supervision, and training to EP colleagues, trainees and staff. Contribute to complex casework, tribunal work and strategic initiatives. Maintain up‑to‑date specialist knowledge through research and CPD, influencing service practice. Specialist Areas (choose one or more) Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) – manage critical incidents, deliver evidence based SEMH interventions, train staff. Youth Justice – support young people in the youth justice system, provide training and strategic work. Autism – assess and deliver tailored interventions, promote inclusive strategies, train professionals. Cognition and Learning – improve learning outcomes, implement inclusive approaches, support research and innovation. Essential Qualifications BPS‑recognised Psychology degree and Doctorate in Educational Psychology. HCPC registration and eligibility for Graduate Basis with the BPS. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, integrity and reliability. Extensive experience in educational psychology practice. Evidence of recent CPD and expert knowledge in relevant areas. Knowledge of SEND legislation and multi‑agency working. Experience in planning, performance frameworks and delivering successful projects or research. Detailed understanding of SEND Code of Practice (2015) and Equality Act (2010). Desirable Experience in research and contributing to the evidence base. Leadership and support for colleagues and service members. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, integrity, reliability.
