Role Summary We are recruiting a Service Technician to join our team in Glasgow and cover Glasgow/West. The successful candidate will carry out planned preventative maintenance, safety inspections, and equipment lifecycle replacements, aiming to reduce downtime and improve equipment condition. Responsibilities Carrying out routine servicing of lift/escalator equipment, including minor repair work and routine component replacement in accordance with approved company procedures. Rectifying and reducing faults on lift/escalator equipment during breakdowns and checking to confirm correct functioning. Checking lift/escalator functions such as speed, motor start/stop, weight, noise, temperature, and power supplies using approved company issued tools and protective equipment. Carrying out routine inspection and adjustment of lift/escalator in accordance with approved procedures. Reinstating lift/escalator and completing service documentation. Conducting advanced fault‑finding and diagnostic procedures using a range of techniques, technical manuals and appropriate test equipment, restoring equipment to service. Competence is required to effectively use written or graphical information. Carrying out site surveys and attending all relevant training sessions to keep up to date on technical knowledge and skills. Working in accordance with the Company’s Safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current UK legal requirements and Schindler Group safety requirements, setting a personal example of safe behaviour. Contributing to the Company safety objectives by maintaining and monitoring current safety systems under direct control and implementing agreed changes where applicable. Qualifications & Experience Experience in lift/escalator servicing, maintenance, or repairs preferred. Qualified to NVQ level 3 minimum in lift/escalator maintenance or equivalent. Advanced electrical and mechanical knowledge, including multi‑brand equipment. Advanced problem‑solving skills. Ability to work under pressure, to deadlines, and within efficiencies. Ability to work independently with a flexible approach. Good communication skills at various levels (client, service leader, inspectors). Manual dexterity – requires the use of hands, arms, and feet for repetitive lifting and operation of hand and power tools. Proven fault‑finding and diagnostic skills.
