Our General Insurance team at DWF provides expertise in Casualty, Disease, Criminal Defence, EL/PL & RTA and is currently seeking a Junior Solicitor, Solicitor or Senior Paralegal to handle a varied caseload of litigated personal injury defender cases, under the supervision of Lynne Macfarlane, Partner and Solicitor Advocate.We seek someone with experience in personal injury litigation, preferably in defender but we will also consider pursuer experience for the right candidate. The main priority is to find someone who can deal with a mixed defender caseload comprising motor, employers liability (EL) and public liability (PL) cases, raised at summary cause, ordinary sheriff court and Court of Session level. Skill required is to review evidence and quickly progress the case to the end point, either settlement or proof, in line with client service level agreements.ResponsibilitiesWork with partners to manage a caseload of high value claims comprising a variety of defender EL/PL & RTA matters.Draft pleadings, reports to clients, attend court hearings, work to court deadlines, progress liability investigations, gather evidence, instruct experts and consider medical causation issues.Prioritise work effectively and maximise efficiency, adhering to court deadlines, directions and client SLA.Build working relationships internally and externally to develop business networks and understand the Firm’s directions and client needs.Desirable Criteria1 year PQE, preferably within Casualty, Disease, EL/PL, RTA or personal and serious injury.Experience in high value defender personal injury files either independently or as an assistant to senior team members.Technically experienced in and a real interest in Employers Liability, Public Liability, RTA, Casualty, Disease, Personal injury, Serious injury and catastrophic injury work.Familiar with working in a commercial environment.What we offerWe offer a comprehensive rewards package that extends beyond a basic salary, including flexible benefits and robust well-being programmes.
