This pivotal role is based within a highly specialised educational institution. This position is crucial for the effective delivery of the engineering curriculum. The successful candidate will act as the technical specialist, supporting both students and staff with practical, hands‑on engineering work. The role ensures that the learning environment is safe, well‑equipped, and conducive to providing students with the essential practical experience required for a STEM‑focused career. Requirements Relevant technical qualification in Engineering or a related discipline. Have practical experience working in a workshop, laboratory, or technical environment. Eligibility to work in the UK. Enhanced Child DBS on the updated service (Willingness to apply for one) Required Skills Technical Expertise: A proven and strong understanding of core engineering principles, practices, and workshop techniques relevant to a technical college environment. Problem‑Solving: The ability to work on one's own initiative to successfully troubleshoot, diagnose, and complete complex technical tasks and equipment repairs. Safety Awareness: A deep‑seated commitment to following, promoting, and enforcing stringent health and safety procedures in a technical setting. Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with teaching staff, external suppliers, and clearly communicate technical information to students. Organisational Skills: Demonstrably efficient and effective management of resources, equipment, time, and record‑keeping for a busy department. Practical Competence: High level of competence in the practical use of a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and specialised engineering machinery.
