About the Role Key Responsibilities Day‑to‑day management of the tax department including workflow, team guidance and quality assurance Preparation and submission of personal tax compliance for a varied client base (high‑net‑worth individuals, entrepreneurs, professionals) Reviewing and overseeing the work of team members to ensure technical accuracy and compliance Providing coaching, mentoring and ongoing support to junior staff Advising on complex personal tax issues (capital gains, inheritance tax, residency) Maintaining strong client relationships through proactive advice and identification of advisory opportunities Keeping up to date with personal tax legislation and HMRC requirements Ensuring deadlines and compliance requirements are met efficiently and effectively Key Requirements ATT qualified (minimum); CTA or equivalent experience highly desirable At least 5 years UK accountancy practice experience in personal tax Demonstrable experience managing a portfolio of clients and reviewing team output Strong attention to detail and commitment to high professional standards Confident communicator and effective team leader Excellent organisational and workflow management skills Technical Skills & Qualifications Comprehensive knowledge of personal tax compliance and advisory Familiarity with HMRC requirements and evolving tax legislation Experience with tax software and digital recordkeeping (desirable) Benefits & Rewards Hybrid working model (minimum 2 days per week in Lancaster office) 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays Additional leave with seniority; buy up to 5 extra days (max 30 days total) Business closure over Christmas Company pension scheme Life assurance (x4 annual salary) Enhanced family leave policies Enhanced company sick pay Employee Assistance Programme (24/7 confidential support) Corporate discounts platform Flexible benefits platform (PMI critical illness, dental, cycle to work, eye care, cash plan – seniority dependent / self‑funded at corporate rates) Clear career progression and leadership development opportunities Location & Working Arrangements Based in Lancaster with hybrid working (minimum 2 days in‑office) Modern well‑equipped office environment Ready to Lead the Next Chapter If you’re an ambitious tax manager ready to make an impact with a progressive independent practice, we’d love to hear from you.
